Story of the Day

This was the final day of our week in Colorado. Chris was still suffering from the flu and I still had a cracked lift, so we were not even sure whether we would ski. The weather looked good, so we decided to give it a go.

We started with a gentle cruise down from the top of Zephyr and continued with a few more gentle runs on the front of the mountain. It was very cold.

When we stopped for coffee, Chris decided that he wasn't up to much more. I went off on my own for a little over an hour. The highlight was the moguls on Drunken Frenchman and Trestle. Drunken Frenchman was not particularly difficult but very long and tiring. Trestle proved much more challenging, with some areas with very little choice of ski line and some very large bumps.

After lunch we had both had enough, so just skied back down to the base. This proved to be an OK finish to a pretty bad week.

To cap the week, we were dragged out of bed in the middle of the night because of a fire alarm and started to wonder whether we would actually be able to get our car in time to drive down to the airport.
